Mirella C.
Surgery Supervisor
RVT
Hi, my name is Mirella, and I am a Registered Veterinary Technician and Surgery Supervisor at TruVet. I am passionate about mentoring new technicians, teaching critical thinking, and nursing critical patients back to health.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I love hiking, camping, outdoor adventures, art, painting, and making jewellery. I share my home with my husband, two kitties named Linda and Vato, and my beloved geriatric Chihuahua, Chika.
Favorite Part of My Job
The most inspiring parts of my job are teaching critical thinking skills, guiding new technicians in the ways of veterinary medicine, and nursing critical patients back to health so they can return home. There is always room to grow, and every day brings new learning opportunities.
Why I Chose This Profession
I have always had a special soft spot for animals — especially elderly Chihuahuas. Veterinary medicine gave me a way to turn that love into a career where I can make a tangible difference, not just for the patients I care for, but for the technicians I help develop.
Education
I hold an Associate's degree in Animal Health from the SRJC RVT programme and have been a licenced RVT since 2016. I am also Fear Free certified and a proud member of the Redwood Empire Veterinary Technician Association.
Professional Background
My background spans shelter medicine, general practice, and emergency and overnight patient care. In my current role as Surgery Supervisor, I focus on teaching critical thinking skills, guiding new technicians, and ensuring our team is always performing at its best.
Work History
My journey in veterinary medicine began in 2013 as a volunteer for Forgotten Felines, where I spent two years making a difference for cats in need. I then became a veterinary assistant for Sonoma County Animal Services before moving into emergency overnight patient care. I joined TruVet in August 2023, where I now oversee the professional development of our technical staff.
