TruVet's Veterinary Cardiology service focuses on the diagnosis and management of heart and circulatory disease in dogs and cats. When a heart murmur is detected, breathing changes develop, fainting episodes occur, or cardiac symptoms become more complex, your primary care veterinarian may recommend evaluation by a veterinary cardiologist.
Our cardiology team utilizes advanced cardiac diagnostics and evidence-based treatment plans to evaluate heart structure, function, and blood flow with precision. Through thoughtful assessment and individualized management, we help pets with heart conditions maintain comfort, stability, and long-term quality of life.
Conditions Commonly Managed
Our cardiology service provides evaluation and management for dogs and cats with heart-related conditions, including but not limited to:
- Heart murmurs
- Congestive heart failure
- Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM)
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)
- Congenital heart defects
- Valvular heart disease (mitral or tricuspid valve disease)

- Echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound) — the gold standard for evaluating heart size, structure, function, and blood flow in real time
- Electrocardiography (ECG) — to assess heart rate, rhythm, and electrical conduction abnormalities

Comprehensive Cardiac Evaluation
Echocardiography allows a detailed, noninvasive assessment of cardiac performance, while ECG evaluates the heart's electrical activity. These tools are often used together to provide a complete cardiac evaluation.
In select cases, minimally invasive or interventional procedures may be recommended as part of comprehensive cardiac management. Each diagnostic plan is tailored to the individual patient to guide timely, informed medical decisions.
