Payment Types
At TruVet, we understand that veterinary care can sometimes be unexpected, and our goal is always to help pets receive the treatment they need. We are committed to working with pet owners to develop treatment plans that consider both medical needs and financial circumstances whenever possible. Our team will discuss available options and priorities for care so that we can find a plan that works within your budget, because we never want to see a pet go without necessary treatment.
A deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your appointment for Specialty Care services, including Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, and Surgery, as well as Wellness visits. This deposit is fully refundable if the appointment is canceled with at least 48 hours' notice. Any remaining balance for diagnostics, treatments, or additional services is due at the time care is provided.
Urgent Care appointments also require a deposit at the time of booking to reserve your same-day visit. Because these appointments are scheduled specifically to accommodate immediate medical needs, the deposit for Urgent Care visits is non-refundable. Any remaining balance for diagnostics, treatments, or additional services will be due at the time services are performed.
If your pet requires hospitalization, surgery, or another medical procedure, a detailed treatment estimate will be provided in advance. This estimate outlines the anticipated costs for diagnostics and treatment and will be reviewed with you so you have a clear understanding of the recommended care before services begin. A deposit equal to the lower end of the estimate is required at the time of admission.
For hospitalized patients, our goal is to ensure you remain fully informed about your pet's care. Our medical team will provide updates on your pet's condition at least twice daily, and our administrative team will communicate with you daily regarding ongoing charges, updated estimates for continued care, and payment arrangements for upcoming services if needed. Once a treatment plan is approved, payment is due prior to services being rendered for all Specialty, Emergency, Wellness, and Urgent Care visits.
While we do not accept checks or offer in-house financing, we do accept several payment options to help make care more accessible:
- Apple Pay
- CareCredit
- Cash
- Cherry
- Direct payment through Trupanion Pet Insurance*
- Mastercard
- Scratchpay
- Visa
Pet Insurance

Emergencies, injuries, and illnesses can involve significant costs for diagnostics, treatment, and pet surgery. Pet insurance may help offset unexpected veterinary expenses and can be especially valuable for emergency and specialty care.
While payment is due at the time of service, we are happy to assist with pet insurance claims. Upon request, our team can help complete claim forms and submit them directly to your insurance provider along with applicable invoices and medical records.
*Please note that TruVet is not affiliated with, and does not endorse, any specific pet insurance company. Currently, Trupanion is the only insurance provider we accept that offers direct pay. If you are using another pet insurance company, you will be responsible for submitting invoices and exam notes to your provider for reimbursement.
