Lisa G.
Veterinary Assistant
Hi, my name is Lisa, and I am a Veterinary Assistant at TruVet. I joined the team in June 2023 and love the constant opportunity to learn, grow, and work with amazing and talented people every day.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I love making memories with my toddler — exploring hiking trails, enjoying river days, digging into the garden, and going on family trips. As a former competitive AQHA youth equestrian, I also seize every chance I get to go horseback riding.
Favorite Part of My Job
The most inspiring part of my job is the constant opportunity to learn, grow, and work with amazing and talented people every day. My advice to anyone joining the team: be open-minded, flexible, willing to help, and always remain humble.
Why I Chose This Profession
My beloved quarter horse Sony — my dearest friend — crossed the rainbow bridge in 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. His memory continues to inspire my love of animals and my commitment to doing everything I can to support the pets and families in our care.
Education
I graduated from San Francisco State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Professional Background
My background spans specialty surgical coordination, veterinary assisting, emergency care, and outpatient surgical reception. I bring nearly a decade of veterinary experience to my role at TruVet, along with a genuine commitment to open-minded, humble, team-oriented care.
Work History
I first entered the specialty veterinary field as a service coordinator in surgery and worked my way up to assistant and later supervisor. Along the way, I also gained experience in emergency veterinary services and worked as a receptionist in two human outpatient surgical centres in San Francisco — experience that gave me a unique, well-rounded perspective on patient care and administration.
